Argos, H&M, Lidl, Wilko, Ebuyer and CDKeys had the hottest offers

London, Monday 29th January, 2017: hotukdeals (HUKD), the UK’s biggest deal-sharing community, has revealed the retailers with the best deals of 2016, according its members, as part of its Retailer Awards 2016.

 

Awards were available across six areas (fashion, groceries, audio-visual, computing, gaming and home) with Argos, H&M, Ebuyer, CDKeys, Lidl and Wilko leading in their categories, giving consumers a guide on where to shop to get the best value for money in 2017.

 

Winning retailers were determined by the voting system used by the members of hotukdeals who use the temperature gauge to vote hot or cold on deals based on factors such as price history, quality of the product and the retailer, so other members of the community know the hotter the deal, the stronger the offer

 

Categories and winners from the Retailer Awards 2016 awarded by hotukdeals:

The award for best audio-visual deals has been awarded to Argos for its offers on headphones, speakers and televisions that were posted on hotukdeals in 2016 earning them an average deal heat of 222º over the course of the year. 25 of its audio-visual offers reached 1000º or more and the hottest deal was for a Black Friday deal thread posted by a member of hotukdeals, which reached 2491º for a selection of televisions and other offers. Other hot deals available from Argos included an offer for wireless noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones from Philips, which were reduced to £34.99 from £89.99 in November and received deal heat of 1439º. H&M’s deals for clothes, shoes and fashion accessories earnt them an average deal heat of 190º for 2016, as voted by the members of hotukdeals, and the award for best fashion deals. One of its hottest deals (1591º) was posted on hotukdeals in December by a member who spotted that shoppers could get 15% off their entire order as well as free delivery thanks to a code, helping consumers save even more money on their Christmas essentials. Another hot deal was for the fashion retailer’s skinny jeans, which were on offer for £4.79 back in March 2016 down from £7.99, which received deal heat of 474º. The award for best ‘home’ deals of 2016 has been awarded to Wilko with its homeware deals voted, on average, 230º by the members of hotukdeals over the course of the year. HUKD members post a variety of deals from Wilko including dinner sets, storage units, glasses, baking products, paint and furniture. Its hottest deal (1591º), which was posted by a member in January 2016, was for a Russell Hobbs Toaster and Kettle set that was on offer in-store, nationwide, for just £7.50 with one member advising that they had purchased the same kettle alone for £16.00. Ebuyer’s computing deals for 2016 were voted, on average, 172º by the members of hotukdeals giving them the award for best computer deals for its offers on items such as laptops, PC’s and tablets. Ebuyer sell a wide range of products in computing as well as TV and audio, home and kitchen and office supplies. Deals such as an HP Laptop, which was on sale for £349.98, earnt the retailer high deal heat at 1920º. Another deal posted on hotukdeals that was voted as a good deal by its members was for an Acer Revo (PC) in April 2016, which was on offer for £59.99 down from £79.98 and was voted at 1602º. CDKeys is an online retailer that sells a range of Xbox live points and subscriptions, PlayStation Network cards and PC games/expansion packs with its deals being voted by members of hotukdeals throughout 2016, on average, at 228º earning them the award for best in gaming deals. Over 1000 deals have been posted for the gaming retailer with 16 of its offers voted over 1000º. Its hottest deal was posted in December and received 1938º heat. This was for Halo: The Master Chief Collection digital download for Xbox One, which was selling at £3.79 plus an extra 5% off thanks to a Facebook code. This is currently £7.89 on the CDKeys website. The award for best grocery deals of 2016 has been awarded to Lidl with members of hotukdeals voting for deals posted for the supermarket’s offers, on average, 267º throughout last year. One of Lidl’s hottest grocery deals was posted by a HUKD member in December and reached 1132º thanks to votes from users, which was for a pack of three Kinder eggs that were selling for 99p, normally retailing at around £2.00. Other hot deals include those for Lidl’s weekly fruit, veg and food items that reached 798º last year.
