HotUKDeals launches updated app in response to the rise in spending via smartphones and tablets
London, Thursday 16th July, 2015: HotUKDeals (HotUKDeals), the biggest social commerce platform in the UK, has launched an updated iOS and Android app in response to the increasing number of people shopping via smartphones and tablets and to provide new ways of accessing deals to better suit the needs of its growing number of members.
HotUKDeals is investing in its applications to cater for the increase in online spending via smartphone and tablets, which according to the Centre for Retail Research will rise to 28.6% in the UK in 2015 up from 18.7% in 2014, whilst online spending via PC’s is expected to reduce from 81.3% to 71.4%*. In June, IMRG (Interactive Media in Retail Group) reported that in May 2015 the m-commerce sector (sales via a smartphone or tablet device) recorded a 48% increase on May 2014**.
HotUKDeals currently has 1.2m registered members and the free app has 1.7m downloads for people looking to find, rate and share the best deals, voucher codes and freebies.
The new HotUKDeals app has been completely re-written to be more responsive, better looking with a new modern design and include more features, including enabling members to send and receive private messages and optionally get notified when a message has been received. The new app also allows members to browse content that they’ve loaded before, even when they’re offline, so they can easily access the deals they’re interested in.
Optimized for iPhone 6/6+ the new app also includes better activity updates on deals and merchants, so users never miss the content that matters to them.
The new HUKD app supports user activities such as giving members the ability to be notified when others have commented on their deals; follow updates from the deals, voucher codes, freebies and merchants they're interested in; and receive notifications for new matching items they are looking to purchase using keyword alerts.
